Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Construction Project Manager to lead and oversee our construction projects. The successful candidate will manage all phases of the building lifecycle, from initial planning to closeout, and will serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and subcontractors. This position is responsible for ensuring projects are completed to specifications, on schedule, and within budget, all while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Project Planning and Management:
- Plan all phases of the construction lifecycle, including project initiation, planning, execution, and closeout.
- Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and work timetables.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and procurement strategies.
- Proactively identify and manage potential risks and obstacles that may arise, developing mitigation and contingency plans.
Leadership and Team Coordination:
- Lead, mentor, and manage project teams, including subcontractors and on-site staff, to ensure productivity and accountability.
- Select, negotiate with, and coordinate the activities of subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Conduct regular on-site meetings and inspections to monitor progress and enforce safety protocols.
- Oversee the allocation of personnel and equipment across projects to maximize efficiency.
Communication and Client Relations:
- Serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and city officials.
- Provide regular project updates, progress reports, and budget summaries to clients and senior management.
- Interpret and explain technical information and contracts clearly to both clients and team members.
- Foster strong working relationships with all project partners to address concerns and resolve issues effectively.
Compliance and Quality Control:
- Ensure that the project complies with all legal requirements, building codes, and safety regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Obtain all necessary permits and approvals required to execute the build.
- Implement and maintain quality control processes to ensure all work meets project specifications and industry standards.
- Oversee the final project turnover, including punch list completion and compliance documentation.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a construction project manager, with a track record of successfully managing projects from initiation to completion.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
- Thorough understanding of construction contracts, budgeting, and scheduling.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an eye for detail.
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., PMP, Certified Construction Manager [CCM]) is a plus.
- Encouraged but NOT required a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Work Environment:
- A mix of office-based administrative tasks and frequent travel to job sites to monitor project progress.
- Flexibility to work extended hours, including evenings or weekends, to meet project deadlines or respond to emergencies.
- Exposure to outdoor construction environments and potential hazards on job sites.
